San Francisco State University will host its annual Rights and Wrongs: A Constitution and Citizenship Day Conference, September 17–18, 2025. The event honors the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 and invites the community to reflect on constitutional rights, freedoms, democracy, equality and justice.

Paul DeAngelis, faculty member in SFSU’s Paralegal Studies program, will present during Session 2 on Wednesday, September 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in HUM 133. His talk, The 2024 Justice Gap Study: Programs and Laws Advancing Access to Justice, will be part of a panel on “Justice Gaps: Legal Services and Abortion Rights in the 2020s.”

This year’s conference also features keynote lectures from two distinguished historians. Jonathan Gienapp, Associate Professor of History and Law at Stanford University, will present Constitutional Originalism and History. Stephanie E. Jones-Rogers, Chancellor’s Professor and Associate Professor of History at UC Berkeley, will deliver Rethinking Gender, Slavery and the Constitution.

All sessions are free and open to the public. Learn more on the SFSU Constitution Day website.
