Global Business Communication Skills Courses
This two-part course series is designed to prepare students for a successful job or internship search and the professional skills needed to excel in this internship or job. Global Business Communication Skills (GBCS) I is 1.2 CEUs and offered in the fall and GBCS II is 1.2 CEUs and offered in the spring. GBCS I is not a prerequisite of GBCS II.

PCS 9200 Global Business Communication Skills I - Offered in Fall
GBCS I is designed to help students learn communication skills for success in an ever-changing global business environment. Students advance their written and spoken communication skills while gaining knowledge, skills and experiences to advance their careers. Topics include networking and conducting a job search, professional presentation skills, successful interview strategies and intercultural communication dynamics. The course is also an introduction to marketing research through project-based learning. Students develop and carry out a marketing research plan, analyzing and organizing market data into a presentation. Students enrolling in the GBCS II course will present their marketing project results in the GBCS II course.

PCS 9201 Global Business Communication Skills II - Offered in Spring
GBCS II is designed to help students learn communication skills for success in an ever-changing global business environment. Students advance their written and spoken communication skills while gaining knowledge, skills and experiences to advance their careers. Topics include networking and conducting a job search, professional presentation skills, successful interview strategies and intercultural communication dynamics. The course is also an introduction to marketing research. Students who’ve completed the GBCS I course present their marketing research results from that course.

Annette Caneda
Dr. Annette Caneda has served as a faculty lecturer at San Francisco State University since 1999, where she teaches business and technical communications. She is also a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach and works in healthcare where she focuses on organizational learning and leadership development. Dr. Caneda has worked in a variety of roles in industries such as biotechnology, petroleum, utilities, manufacturing, information technology and insurance.
