Why did you choose to attend the SF State Post-Bac program?
I chose the SF State Post-Bac program because it afforded me the necessary foundational education to pursue a career in healthcare in a supportive environment.
What is/was your favorite spot on the SF State campus, and why?
I guess it would have to be the library, since I practically lived there.
Which SF State Post-Bac class was your favorite and why?
I loved the organic chemistry classes. I had heard such terrible things about the subject, but the classes and professor were great.
What is/was your favorite thing to do in SF?
My favorite thing was to go to the Mission and eat a giant burrito. Also, I enjoyed doing improv comedy at Endgames Improv.
Tell us something you learned as an SF State Post-Bac that is important to you.
Telling yourself you can do something is the first step to actually doing it. Thank you, physics, for teaching me that.
What advice would you give to incoming post-bac students?
Prioritize both your studies and also having a full life. I experienced burn out because I didn't always do that. I would also recommend gaining hands-on experience in healthcare before applying to graduate school. I had a one-track mind when it came to being pre-med, and my work experience after the program is how I realized that nursing was a better fit for me.
What resources have you used while a post-bac to help you reach your goals?
Answering a million practice questions and forming study groups with classmates helped me succeed.
